To bleed a double-acting cylinder, the first step is to confirm that the hydraulic system is de-pressurized and the power source is turned off. Then you would locate the exhaust valve and, using the control valve, you would open it just enough so that the rod completely extends. Next, open the extension side exhaust valve to eject hydraulic oil without bubbles and in a steady flow. Then release the exhaust valve, and bring the piston rod back to its fully retracted position, then perform the same procedure to bleed the retraction side. When the hydraulic cylinder does not have a special exhaust valve, the oil pipe joint is slightly loose, and air is released along with the oil when the piston rod is moved to move. The process has to be repeated three to five times to let the gas out. During use, we need to refuel the hydraulic oil at the specified place to avoid secondary air.
