Applications of the Tow Truck Hydraulic Power Pack

The tow truck hydraulic power pack is an indispensable tool in road rescue services. It can provide hydraulic power for rescue vehicles to control the lifting arm, winch, and dumping components. This enables the rescue team to quickly lift and relocate vehicles at the accident site and on the faulty road section, thereby improving rescue efficiency.

On flatbed trailers, vehicle transport trucks and swivel trailers, the tow truck hydraulic power pack provides stable hydraulic support for loading, tilting and unloading of the vehicles. It can make the vehicle move smoothly and safely when sliding onto or off the platform, thereby reducing the risk of damage during transportation.

The tow truck hydraulic power pack is widely used in the hydraulic systems of dump trucks and trucks. It can provide the power for the vehicle bed to tip over, allowing building materials, garbage, or goods to be quickly and safely unloaded.

In the daily maintenance or repair process of vehicles, the tow truck hydraulic power pack can provide continuous and stable power support for lifts, hydraulic jacks, and other equipment. This helps technicians perform chassis inspections, suspension adjustments, and other tasks more easily.
In theory, it is possible. But the premise is that the flow and pressure of your power pack should meet the needs of all equipment. If the number of devices or the workload increases, you can choose a power pack with a larger capacity or connect multiple circuits in parallel to ensure a stable output.
Common manifestations of performance degradation include increased noise during operation, hydraulic oil leakage, slow or unstable movement, etc. These usually indicate that there may be a problem with the pump, valve, or circuit. We suggest that you check and maintain it promptly.
You need to determine the flow rate and pressure based on the size, the required lifting force, and the movement speed of the hydraulic cylinder you are using.
Yes. Our hydraulic power pack will be equipped with an adjustable relief valve. It is preset with the pressure you specified when it was manufactured. If you have to make an adjustment, please make sure to adjust within a reasonable pressure range according to the product manual.
This is usually not allowed. The suction tube inside the fuel tank sucks in the fuel from the bottom based on gravity. Installing the vertical hydraulic power pack horizontally can cause cavitation in the suction pipe, resulting in pump damage. If you need to install horizontally due to limited chassis space, please inform us in advance so that we can install a suitable suction tube for you.
What is a Tow Truck Hydraulic Power Pack?

The tow truck hydraulic power pack is an integrated unit that provides energy for the hydraulic system of the towing vehicle. It can provide stable hydraulic power for operations such as lifting, towing and pulling of vehicles. It is mainly composed of a hydraulic motor, a high-pressure gear pump, a hydraulic manifold and an oil storage tank.
The tow truck hydraulic power pack converts the electrical energy provided by the truck chassis battery into high-pressure fluid power. This power is transmitted to hydraulic cylinders or motors to drive the towing vehicle to complete actions such as arm lifting, flat plate sliding and tilting, or winch winding.
The control valves and relief valves inside the hydraulic manifold can regulate the oil flow direction and pressure, keeping the operation smooth and safe. After completing the work, the hydraulic oil returns to the oil tank along the return pipe to prepare for the next work cycle.
Features of the Tow Truck Hydraulic Power Pack

Sturdy All-Weather Protective Casing
The tow truck hydraulic power pack can be equipped with an all-weather protective housing with an IP65 protection rating, which can withstand harsh conditions such as freezing rain and dust in road rescue operations.
The key electrical components, such as starting solenoid valves and motor wiring terminals, will be covered with impact resistant plastic shields or fully sealed metal casings. This can prevent moisture and impurities from entering the equipment, avoiding electrical short circuits.
Integrated Load Holding Safety Valve
The manifold of the tow truck hydraulic power pack integrates a one-way valve and an overflow valve. When the motor stops running, they can lock the hydraulic oil in the cylinder chamber to prevent the boom or flat plate of the clearing vehicle from drifting downward under gravity. This way, the load can be fixed in place without relying on the mechanical winch brake, keeping the safety of the operation.
High-Torque Intermittent Operation Motor
The hydraulic system of the tow truck requires an instant burst of powerful force. Our DC motor is specifically designed to work in accordance with the S3 intermittent operation mode, which enhances the torque output capability during short periods of time.
By using pure copper armature windings and upgraded brush compositions, these motors can generate the high pressure needed to lift heavy SUVs or trucks instantly. During the frequent start-stop operation of the clearing equipment, its heat dissipation efficiency is also very high, which can prevent the motor from overheating and burning out effectively.
Integrated Structure
The tow truck hydraulic power pack adopts an integrated structure, integrating the motor, hydraulic pump and oil tank into a single unit. This structure can quickly provide stable power to the hydraulic system, making the lifting, dragging, dumping and other actions of the clearing vehicle more powerful, and can maintain a continuous and smooth working state.
Integrated Oil Storage and Heat Dissipation
The oil tank can store hydraulic oil, dissipate heat from the system, and allow impurities in the oil to settle naturally. This can control the working temperature of the hydraulic system, reduce component wear caused by oil pollution, lower the probability of cavitation, and keep the system stable during long term operation.
Multiple Power Supply Options
The tow truck hydraulic power pack supports multiple power supply methods. It can be driven by a DC motor or linked with a trailer engine power take off to meet the working requirements under different energy conditions.
Flexible Control and Installation
The tow truck hydraulic power pack supports both horizontal and vertical installation methods. It can be adapted to various positions such as narrow side toolboxes and the underside of the vehicle.
At the same time, the electrical interface is pre-wired and compatible with both wired controllers and wireless remote control systems. You can operate from a safe distance to enhance the safety and convenience of the task.
Tow Truck Hydraulic Power Pack Troubleshooting

Motor Does Not Start (Clicking Sound or Silence)
Fault phenomenon: After starting the motor, it makes a rapid clicking sound or has no response.
Possible reasons: The power supply voltage is insufficient, or the solenoid is damaged.
Solution: First of all, you can use a multimeter to check whether the battery voltage in the load state is higher than the rated voltage. If the voltage is good, check the grounding connection of the chassis. If the solenoid valve is closed but the motor does not rotate, it usually means that the internal contacts are burnt. You can directly replace the solenoid valve.
The Motor is Running, but the Cylinder is Not Moving.
Fault phenomenon: The motor is rotating at high speed, and the sound is sharper than usual, but the boom or the flat plate remains still.
Possible reasons: The hydraulic oil level is too low. Or the relief valve is stuck in the open position.
Solution: First, check the oil level in the fuel tank. If the oil level is normal, you can remove the relief valve cartridge for inspection. Impurities such as metal shavings may get stuck on the valve seat, causing the valve to fail to close. You can clean the valve cartridge and then reinstall it.
Boom or Flat Plate Drifts Down
Fault phenomenon: After lifting the vehicle, the boom slowly descends without any operation, especially during heavy loads.
Possible reasons: The check valve is leaking or the oil cylinder seal ring is worn out.
Solution: You can remove the check valve cover and check if there is any metal debris or rubber particles on the valve core. If the check valve is clean and well sealed, this might be due to the wear of the seals inside the hydraulic cylinder, and then causing leakage. You need to repair the hydraulic cylinder.
The System Emits A Loud Noise.
Fault phenomenon: The device can operate, but it is accompanied by huge vibration noise and uneven movement.
Possible reasons: Air has been mixed into the hydraulic oil, causing cavitation.
Solution: You need to carefully check whether the oil suction pipe connector is securely fastened. Then you can cycle the oil cylinder fully extended and retracted 3-4 times in an unloaded state to discharge the mixed air back into the oil tank.
